  • Five Palestinians were killed in an ‘Israeli’ strike on the "Shuhada Gaza" school shelter, while the ‘Israeli’ military claimed it was targeting "suspicious individuals" near the tactical "Yellow Line" boundary.
  • The attack underscores the fragility of the October 10 ceasefire, occurring just as US envoy Steve Witkoff meets with regional mediators in Florida to negotiate a transition to the agreement's second phase.

Gaza’s Civil Defense announced Friday that five Palestinians were killed in an ‘Israeli’ strike on a school serving as a displaced persons shelter, while the ‘Israeli’ military claimed it opened fire on "suspicious individuals."

Casualties at Al-Tuffah Shelter

Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal told AFP that rescue teams "recovered five martyrs following the Israeli shelling of the Shuhada Gaza school shelter" in the Tuffah neighborhood, located in eastern Gaza City.

The ‘Israeli’ military claimed that during operational activity in the "Yellow Line" area of northern Gaza, its forces identified several suspicious individuals at command centers west of the boundary.

Ceasefire Strains

Under the US-brokered ceasefire agreement between ‘Israel’ and Hamas, ‘Israeli’ forces previously withdrew to positions east of the so-called "Yellow Line" within the strip.

"Shortly after identifying the suspects, forces opened fire to eliminate the threat," the military stated, adding it was "aware of the claim regarding casualties in the area, and details are under review."

It also claimed expressing regret for "any harm to uninvolved individuals" and stated it works to mitigate such risks.

The ceasefire, which took effect on Oct. 10, remains fragile as both sides exchange accusations of violations.

Gaza’s Health Ministry reported Thursday that at least 395 Palestinians have been killed by ‘Israeli’ fire since the truce began.

Conversely, ‘Israel’ has reported the deaths of three soldiers in the strip during the same period.

Diplomatic Push in Florida

The strike occurred as Steve Witkoff, US President Donald Trump’s special envoy, prepared to meet with officials from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey in Florida on Friday. The high-level talks aim to transition the agreement into its second phase.

Basal Naim, a member of the Hamas political bureau, told AFP on Friday that Palestinians expect the talks to "put an end to ongoing Israeli aggression, stop all violations, and compel the occupation to adhere to the requirements of the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement."
