The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) announced an airstrike in Gaza City targeting a senior Hamas commander, according to a joint statement issued by IOF and the Shin Bet.

The statement said the targeted individual had recently been involved in efforts to rehabilitate and manufacture weapons for the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas. It added that further details would be released later.

Hebrew media reports said the strike was an attempted assassination of Raed Saad, a senior commander in the Qassam Brigades.

'Israeli' political analyst Barak Ravid reported that the air force struck a vehicle in Gaza, citing a senior official who said the target was Raed Saad, described as the deputy head of Hamas’ military wing.

Hebrew Channel 13 also reported that the attack aimed to assassinate Saad.

'Israel' estimates, according to the reports, indicate that the assassination attempt may have been successful. No confirmation has been issued by Palestinian sources.
