Jordan’s national team, nicknamed Al-Nashama (The Valiants), opened their 2025 Arab Cup campaign with a thrilling victory over the UAE national team.

The match was hosted at the Al Bayt Stadium in the Qatari capital of Doha. Al-Nashama led 1-0 at halftime.

First Half Drama

The opening goal came in the 20th minute when Ali Alwan converted a penalty kick. The penalty was awarded after Yazan Al-Naimat was fouled inside the box.

The same minute saw UAE defender Khalid Ibrahim receive a direct red card for the offense, reducing the UAE to ten men.

Despite the numerical advantage, Jordan failed to extend its lead when Ali Alwan missed a second penalty kick in the 39th minute, which was awarded after Al-Naimat was fouled again, this time by the goalkeeper.

Jordan maintained its one-goal advantage through the end of the first half.

Al-Naimat Seals the Victory

The second half started with a quick response from the UAE, which managed to score the equalizing goal in the 47th minute through Bruno Oliveira.

However, Al-Nashama’s response was swift.

Forward Yazan Al-Naimat secured the second goal for Jordan in the 63rd minute, capitalizing on his team’s numerical superiority to clinch the crucial three points.

With this victory, Al-Nashama raised their tally to three points, leading the group which also includes Egypt and Kuwait alongside the UAE.

Egypt and Kuwait both have one point.
