Elon Musk responded sharply to Billie Eilish after the singer publicly criticized him for amassing wealth instead of addressing pressing global problems.
“She’s not the sharpest tool in the shed,” the Tesla and SpaceX founder, 54, wrote in a tweet Monday night about the 23-year-old pop star.

The exchange follows Eilish’s recent Instagram stories in which she called Musk a “pathetic p***y b**** coward” for prioritizing his fortune over humanitarian causes. The comments came shortly after news surfaced that Musk is poised to become the world’s first trillionaire, boosted by Tesla’s latest pay plan.
Eilish argued that Musk could use his wealth to tackle issues such as world hunger, endangered species, or rebuilding Gaza. She shared an Instagram post by activist group My Voice, My Choice, titled, “Elon Musk became the world’s first trillionaire. Here’s what he could do with it.” The post suggested that USD 40 billion annually could end world hunger by 2030, while USD 2 billion a year could save all critically endangered species.
Musk’s charitable efforts are largely directed through the Musk Foundation, which channels funds back into initiatives linked to his own companies. Neither Musk nor Eilish immediately responded to requests for comment on the Twitter exchange.
Eilish has been vocal in encouraging wealthy figures to use their resources for good. Last month, during her acceptance speech at WSJ Magazine’s Innovator Awards, where Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg was in attendance, she addressed billionaires directly. “We’re in a time right now where the world feels really dark, and people need empathy and help more than ever, especially in our country. If you have money, it’d be great to use it for good, maybe give some to people who need it,” she said.
“I love you all, but there are a few people here with a lot more money than me. If you’re a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? No hate, but yeah, give your money away, shorties,” Eilish added, earning laughs and applause from the audience.
She concluded by revealing that she is donating USD 11.5 million from her latest Hit Me Hard and Soft tour to charities combating climate change.
