- Sukkot warns that weapons are being smuggled from Egypt into 'Israeli' territory using drones and calls for a unified national task force.
- Officials schedule an emergency session as the border area is declared a closed military zone.
An 'Israeli' Knesset member called for the cancellation of the peace treaty between 'Israel' and Egypt. Zvi Sukkot, a member of the Religious Zionism party, urged that the agreement be revoked, claiming it restricts 'Israel's' freedom of action.
He claimed 'Israel’s' experience with the peace treaty with Egypt did not prevent the flow of weapons into Gaza, which, in his opinion, contributed to the events of October 7. He added, “We gave Sinai for peace, but in the end these arrangements were used to transfer weapons that were used against us. The lesson here is that peace on paper does not necessarily stop attacks, and we must be able to respond to any threat immediately.”
He further warned that “Israel constantly views Egypt as a threat. These concerns could harm Israel’s interests and create complications.”
Sukkot warned that unmanned aerial vehicles were being used to smuggle weapons from Egypt into 'Israeli' territory, saying: “In the past, tunnels were underground. Today, the tunnels are above the fences, through our airspace.”

Border security concerns
He called for the creation of a national task force including the Israeli Occupation Forces, Shin Bet, Mossad, and police to address the increasing threat, describing the situation as a national war that requires immediate coordinated action.
Following Sukkot’s statements, the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee scheduled an emergency session to discuss the issue. 'Israeli' Minister Israel Katz responded by declaring the Egypt border area a closed military zone and adjusting rules of engagement to prevent further smuggling.
Peace Treaty

The Egypt-'Israel' Peace Treaty was signed in Washington, D.C., on March 26, 1979, following the 1978 Camp David Accords. It was signed by Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and 'Israeli' Prime Minister Menachem Begin, with US President Jimmy Carter serving as witness.
It was the first-ever peace agreement between 'Israel' and an Arab nation. The landmark treaty formally ended the 30-year state of war between the two countries. Its key provisions mandated a complete 'Israeli' withdrawal of forces and settlements from the Sinai Peninsula, which was returned to Egyptian sovereignty.
In exchange, Egypt gave 'Israel' its first official recognition from an Arab state, established full diplomatic relations, and guaranteed 'Israeli' shipping free passage through the Suez Canal and the Strait of Tiran.
