- Hamas condemned ‘Israeli’ Defense Minister Israel Katz's rejection of a Palestinian state and his call for the permanent military presence on Mount Hermon as evidence of "expansionist tendencies."
- Katz reiterated ‘Israel’s’ policy: “No Palestinian state will be established" and vowed that Gaza would be "demilitarized down to the last tunnel."
Hamas spokesman Hazem Qasem condemned the recent statements by ‘Israeli’ Defense Minister Israel Katz on Sunday, saying it confirms their "expansionist tendencies" and desire to maintain regional conflict.
In a press statement, Qasem said that Katz's remarks, regarding the permanent military presence on Mount Hermon in Syria, the opposition to the establishment of a Palestinian state, and the continued blockade of the Gaza Strip, prove ‘Israel’ is working "to sustain the state of conflict and instability throughout the region."
Katz “No Palestinian State” Policy
Earlier today, Defense Minister Katz reiterated rejection for the two-state solution.
"Our policy is clear: No Palestinian state will be established."
Gaza Demilitarization Plan
Regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip, Katz said ‘Israel’s’ goal is the complete disarmament, stating: "Gaza will be demilitarized down to the last tunnel."
"The military will disarm Hamas on the yellow side, and the international force will also work on that," referring to involving international parties to ensure the territory is free of military capabilities.
Katz also said that the ‘Israeli’ military will remain at the summit of Mount Hermon, in the occupied Syrian Golan.
