'Israeli' Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed on Sunday during his weekly cabinet meeting that the government is expected to receive the body of 'Israeli' Captain Hadar Goldin later in the day.
Goldin, who was killed in Gaza in 2014, has remained one of the most sensitive and high-profile cases for 'Israeli' authorities. His body, along with that of another soldier, Aharon Shulov, has long been central to negotiations regarding the Gaza Strip.
Netanyahu’s announcement signals a potential breakthrough in the long-standing case. Concurrently, the 'Israeli' military confirmed that logistical arrangements are underway on the ground to facilitate the handover.

Red Cross is reported to be heading to a designated meeting point in southern Gaza, where its team will receive the body, though the organization has not formally identified the individual in its statement.
During the same cabinet session, Netanyahu referenced another historic case, stating that the government is also working to recover the remains of Eli Cohen from Syria, highlighting 'Israel’s' commitment to resolving both longstanding and recent cases.
The handover of Goldin’s body, if it proceeds as planned, is expected to be part of broader agreements concerning political prisoner and body exchanges under the ongoing ceasefire arrangements.
Earlier, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades announced that, as part of the Aqsa Typhoon prisoner exchange deal, they would deliver Goldin’s body, which was recovered yesterday, Saturday, in a tunnel in the Yabna area of Rafah in southern Gaza around 2 PM local time.
