  • Rapper Ye (Kanye West) met with prominent Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto in New York to express remorse and "make amends" for his past antisemitic statements.
  • Ye attributed some of his past behavior to his bipolar disorder

American rapper and designer Ye, known as Kanye West, met with prominent ‘Israeli’-Moroccan Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto in New York.

The meeting on Wednesday, captured in a video shared on social media, focused on Ye expressing remorse for his past antisemitic statements and seeking to "make amends" with the Jewish community.

During the encounter, Ye attributed some of his behavior to his bipolar disorder, explaining that it amplified his ideas to extremes, leading him to disregard the impact on others.

He emphasized personal accountability, likening the situation to a parent cleaning up after a child's mess.

"It’s a big deal for me as a man to come and take accountability for all the things that I’ve said," Ye stated through a translator.

Rabbi Pinto embraced Kanye West, saying, "You are a good person," and wished him strength and goodness moving forward. The two concluded the meeting with a hug.

Ye's history of antisemitic remarks dates back to 2022, when he infamously tweeted about going "death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE," sparking widespread backlash and the loss of major partnerships, including with Adidas.

More recently, in February 2025, he promoted a swastika hoodie via a Super Bowl ad, and in May, released a song titled "Heil Hitler" that garnered millions of views.

Apology History

This is not Ye's first attempt at an apology.

In 2023, he credited watching the film "21 Jump Street" with Jewish actor Jonah Hill for helping him "like Jewish people again."

Later that year, he posted a message in Hebrew on Instagram committing to unity and amends.

Rabbi Pinto, a kabbalist with an international following, serves as Morocco's chief rabbinical judge.

Despite a 2016 bribery conviction in ‘Israel’, he has counseled high-profile figures like NBA star LeBron James.
