Jordanian army foils drug smuggling attempts via balloons

Jordanian Eastern Command announced Monday morning that it had foiled two attempts to smuggle large quantities of narcotics carried by balloons guided with primitive devices.

According to the Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army, the incidents occurred along the command's front and within its area of responsibility. Border Guard forces detected and intercepted the balloons in two separate locations inside Jordanian territory, in coordination with security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department.

The seized materials were handed over to the relevant authorities for further legal action.
