'Israel’s' Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a stern warning on Sunday, indicating that 'Israeli' forces could carry out further strikes in Gaza if Hamas breaches the current ceasefire.

“Hamas will pay a heavy price for every shot and every breach of the ceasefire,” Katz said in a statement. “If the message is not understood, our response will become increasingly severe.”

The warning comes amid ongoing tensions in the region, following a US-brokered ceasefire intended to halt hostilities. 'Israeli' officials have emphasized their readiness to resume attacks, while Palestinian authorities in Gaza have called for strict adherence to the truce.

At least 51 people have been killed across the Gaza Strip since a US-brokered ceasefire was meant to halt 'Israeli' attacks over a week and a half ago, medical sources told Al Jazeera.

The ceasefire, which was intended to stop the escalation of violence, has not fully prevented bloodshed. An additional 150 people have been injured by 'Israeli' army fire since the agreement, according to local medical authorities.
