Trump departs US for 'Israel', Egypt

US President Donald Trump described his upcoming visit to 'Israel' and Egypt as “very special” on Sunday, ahead of meetings to commemorate a Gaza ceasefire and the release of captives.

“This is going to be a very special time,” Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews shortly before boarding Air Force One. “Everybody's very excited about this moment in time.”

The trip comes amid heightened international attention on the recent Gaza ceasefire and the first phase of the prisoner exchange, which involves the release of captives held by Hamas in Gaza and Palestinian political prisoners in 'Israeli' jails.

Trump’s visit is expected to include engagements in both Jerusalem and Sharm El-Sheikh, where he will participate in regional peace discussions.
