The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates is following up on the situation of Jordanian citizens on board the Global Sumud Flotilla heading to the Gaza Strip, which was intercepted by 'Israel' in international waters.

The ministry affirmed that it holds 'Israel' responsible for their safety and warns against exposing them to any harm.

The ministry’s spokesperson, Fouad Al-Majali, stated that through the Directorate of Operations and Consular Affairs, the ministry is in direct contact with some Jordanian citizens to check on their conditions, and is taking all necessary procedures and communications to ensure their safety, protect their rights, and secure their return to Jordan.

Majali added that the ministry will also provide any possible and necessary assistance to evacuate nationals of brotherly and friendly countries that request support.

He further condemned the attack on the flotilla, calling it a blatant violation of international law, a threat to the freedom of navigation, and an endangerment of civilian lives.

Majali stressed the need for the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities, compel 'Israel' to respect its obligations under international law and international humanitarian law, and lift all restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza to address the exceptional catastrophe caused by the 'Israeli' aggression on the Strip.
