"I will not allow Israel to annex the West Bank", says Trump
US President Donald Trump on Thursday stated that he will not allow 'Israel' to annex the West Bank, emphasizing his position from the Oval Office: “I will not allow Israel to annex the West Bank. I will not allow it. This will not happen.”
Trump’s remarks come after he presented a 21-point plan to Arab leaders on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly earlier this week.
In addition to his stance on the West Bank, Trump announced that the United States is close to finalizing a deal for Gaza following productive discussions with regional leaders. He indicated that a Gaza ceasefire proposal could be unveiled soon.
“We want to get Gaza over,” Trump told reporters while welcoming Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the White House. “I had a great meeting with the leaders of that area, generally speaking, the Middle East. I think we're close to getting some kind of a deal done.”
The US delegation held discussions with representatives from Arab and Muslim countries on Tuesday, with attendees describing the talks as productive. Reports cited in Hebrew media confirm that any potential plan would not involve annexation of the West Bank.
