The border authority, which had announced that the crossing would be open this morning, confirmed that it will remain closed for the entire day on Sunday.

The border crossing between the West Bank and Jordan had been closed after a shooting and stabbing operation carried out by a Jordanian truck driver who had been part of a mission to deliver aid by land to the Gaza Strip.

The Jordanian foreign ministry condemned the incident, calling it a violation of the law and a threat to Jordan’s interests and its ability to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

The foreign ministry statement noted that the driver accused of the shooting, Abd al-Muttalib al-Qaisi, born in 1968, is a civilian who began working as an aid driver three months ago.

Since the beginning of the war, Jordan has sent 8,664 trucks in 201 convoys, establishing itself as a main supply line for the Gaza Strip amid a humanitarian crisis.
