Lewis Hamilton condemns war on Gaza as “genocide”, urges global aid
Seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton has used his prominent platform to condemn the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, describing the situation as a genocide and issuing a powerful plea for international aid.
"The situation in Gaza is getting worse by the day. In the past two years, more than 10% of the population has been killed or wounded - including tens of thousands of children - and that number only continues to rise,” The F1 driver said on his Instagram account.
“The latest incursion on Gaza City has forced hundreds of thousands of people from their homes, with hospitals across the strip already overwhelmed with those suffering from famine, and casualties of the bombing that never seems to end,” he added, referring to the recent major assault started by the ‘Israeli’ military on the Gaza’s largest urban center.
“Today, a UN commission of enquiry described what is happening in Gaza as a genocide. As human beings, we cannot stand by and let this continue to happen.”
The racing icon's statement was a direct call to action, encouraging his millions of followers to donate to reputable organizations working on the ground.
He specifically mentioned humanitarian groups such as Doctors Without Borders, the Palestine Red Crescent Society, and Save the Children UK as key avenues for support. Hamilton, who stated that he had already made a personal donation, emphasized that even small contributions can make a significant difference.
