'Israeli’ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that the two ‘Israelis’ killed at the Allenby Bridge following a shooting and stabbing operation today were combatants within the military.

In an interview with Channel 14, Netanyahu said: “The price is heavy, but these heroes fall so that the country can live” – in statements cited by YNET.

Earlier today, a Jordanian citizen driving a humanitarian aid trick headed for the Gaza Strip carried out a shooting and stabbing operation near the Allenby Crossing between the West Bank and Jordan, the kingdom’s foreign ministry said in a statement.

The statement added that Jordanian authorities launched an investigation into the incident.

The ministry condemned the incident, calling it a violation of the law and a threat to Jordan’s interests and its ability to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

The ministry is coordinating with all relevant agencies to track the status of the drivers who crossed the bridge today and to ensure their immediate return to Jordan, the statement added.

A total of 22 Jordanian aid trucks crossed the bridge toward Gaza today as part of an agreed-upon procedure.

The Foreign Ministry statement noted that the driver accused of the shooting, Abd al-Muttalib al-Qaisi, born in 1968, is a civilian who began working as an aid driver three months ago.

Since the beginning of the war, Jordan has sent 8,664 trucks in 201 convoys, establishing itself as a main supply line for the Gaza Strip amid a humanitarian crisis.

The statement also called for the need for an immediate half of the ‘Israeli’ military offensive in Gaza and a permanent ceasefire.
