May Golan and Ben-Gvir
'Israeli' minister investigated for fraud
The offices of Likud MK and Minister for Social Equality and Women’s Advancement, May Golan, were raided on Monday by 'Israeli' police as part of an investigation into alleged fraud, misuse of public funds, and fictitious employment in her ministry and office.
Police also searched the office of one of Golan’s advisors in Yavne, where a drug-production lab was discovered. A lawyer previously advising Golan was taken in for questioning.
Golan denied the allegations, calling the investigation “political persecution” and saying she would not be intimidated.
The probe follows a January investigative report by Channel 12, which alleged Golan used ministry and NGO funds for personal purposes, appointed family members and associates to fictitious positions, and mismanaged donations. Some employees reportedly received government paychecks without performing their roles.
The Movement for Quality Government in 'Israel' (MQG) called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to remove Golan, citing the seriousness of the allegations and emphasizing the need for an investigation free from political interference.
Golan began her political career as a social activist in southern Tel Aviv and has faced scrutiny over the overlap between her NGO work and her public office.
