VIDEO: 'Israeli' strikes hit Gaza’s al-Shifa Hospital area, kill displaced civilians
Local sources reported early Sunday that 'Israeli' forces launched a heavy strike on the area surrounding al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, sparking a massive fire.
According to initial details, an Israeli drone targeted a civilian car on a street adjacent to the hospital, while quadcopter drones simultaneously opened heavy fire inside the hospital compound.
At the same time, 'Israeli' warplanes carried out what were described as some of the most intense airstrikes since the beginning of the assault, with massive explosions lighting up the night sky across the Gaza Strip.
Medical sources said the strikes also hit tents and a school sheltering displaced families, mostly women and children, killing several who burned to death inside their shelters in what witnesses described as a horrific scene.
Correspondents reported that 'Israeli' drones struck a civilian vehicle near al-Shifa Hospital in western Gaza City, leaving one person dead and several others wounded. After the quadcopter drones ceased fire, civilians rushed to the targeted vehicle and managed to recover the body of the victim along with several injured, who were transferred to al-Shifa Medical Complex for urgent treatment.
A loud explosion was also heard from the neighborhoods of al-Sabra and al-Zeitoun amid ongoing heavy bombardment. Several earlier blasts were attributed to artillery fire on Nafeq Street near the Sahaba entrance.
Meanwhile, other quadcopter drones fired on Tel al-Hawa, a densely populated Gaza City neighborhood filled with tents of displaced families refusing to leave. Sources stressed that 'Israeli' forces are attempting to forcibly push residents south of Wadi Gaza, though many continue to resist evacuation.
