'Israel' defence minister approves plan to conquer Gaza City
'Israeli' Defence Minister Israel Katz has approved the military's plan to conquer Gaza City and authorised the call-up of around 60,000 reservists to carry it out, his ministry confirmed on Wednesday.
The plan will be called "Gideon's Chariots B," following the "Gideon's Chariots" operation.
The approval comes alongside the largest reserve call-up in months, with around 60,000 reserve orders already sent out.
Field sources reported that soldiers in frontline units have already begun receiving emergency orders since Tuesday night.
According to details revealed by 'Israeli' media, the military is intensifying its preparations for the upcoming operation, which is expected to begin in the coming weeks—earlier than previously anticipated.
These preparations include precise operational measures as well as steps related to humanitarian efforts.
The total manpower expected to be mobilised for this operation is around 80,000 soldiers, including the call-up of 60,000 new reservists and the extension of service for approximately 20,000 reservists who are already deployed in the field.
In the same context, the Chief of Staff has extended the service of reservists who have completed 70 days of duty, or are about to, by an additional 40 days. This move aims to ensure continuity of command and control during the upcoming military operation.
