Quentin Tarantino relocates to London from Tel Aviv

Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino and his wife, 'Israeli' singer Daniella Pick, have announced plans to move to London early next year as Tarantino prepares to debut his first play on the West End.

Tarantino, who has lived in Tel Aviv for several years since marrying Pick, the daughter of the late 'Israeli' pop singer Svika Pick, cited family considerations as the primary reason for the move. The couple share two young children, and Tarantino revealed in a recent podcast that being close to them is a top priority.

“When my daughter comes home at three from school, her first thing is 'Aba aba aba'. That’s Hebrew for daddy. She hasn’t seen daddy all day, so she comes up 'Aba aba aba aba', and you know, I like being there,” he said on The Church of Tarantino podcast. “It’s just really precious to me… right now is not the time to run away with the circus.”

While the relocation is framed as a family decision, the timing has raised questions given 'Israel’s' ongoing military assault on Gaza. The country has faced increasing international criticism over its war on Gaza and a recent attack on Iran, which sparked retaliatory strikes reaching deep into 'Israeli' territory.

With the genocide in Gaza resulting in tens of thousands of casualties and Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) preparing for a major offensive in Gaza City, some observers have speculated whether the situation influenced Tarantino’s decision to leave Tel Aviv for London.

Tarantino has not publicly commented on the Gaza war since it began in October 2023. Last year, he drew criticism for visiting an IOF base in southern 'Israel', an event described by local media as a morale-boosting gesture for soldiers. The visit was criticized by pro-Palestinian advocates who viewed it as a tacit endorsement of military actions that human rights organizations have condemned as potentially constituting war crimes.
