US envoy Tom Barrack met with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun at the Presidential Palace in Baabda to discuss regional stability and security issues.

Barrack emphasized the goal of a better life for Lebanon and its neighbors while addressing Hezbollah’s armament.

Barrack stated that disarming Hezbollah is in the interest of Lebanon, its Shiite community, and 'Israel', adding that Iran plays a role in the process.

He stressed that the United States does not issue threats regarding Hezbollah’s disarmament, and any measures with the group are guided by Lebanese authorities, with the US serving an advisory role.

The envoy also noted that Hezbollah must study its options, emphasizing that no group can take something without giving in return.

These statements followed meetings with both Barrack and US envoy Morgan Ortagus, attended by US Ambassador Lisa Johnson at Baabda Palace.
