12-08-2025 14:45|The Ministry of Interior has announced the launch of the pilot phase for issuing Jordanian passports electronically, in a historic step aimed at ending paper-based transactions and facilitating procedures for citizens.
The ministry confirmed that the new system allows citizens to apply for a passport through the government’s Sanad mobile application, after which it will be delivered to their place of residence via Jordan Post.
Step-by-step process for obtaining an electronic passport:
- Applying through Sanad: The process begins by applying electronically via the "Sanad" app available on smartphones.
- Electronic processing: Staff at the Civil Status and Passports Department process and verify the application entirely electronically.
- Centralized printing: Once the application is approved, the passport is printed at the central printing facility located at the department’s main headquarters in Tabrbour, equipped with eight modern central printers.
- Delivery via Jordan Post: The completed passport is handed over to Jordan Post, which then delivers it directly to the citizen at their place of residence.
