Eli Albag, father of Liri Albag - who was held captive by Hamas for 477 days - was interviewed by Hebrew media on Saturday.

He discussed a plan he considered during his daughter’s captivity: “I had a plan to burn the country, to set fire to 200 or 300 cars.” He added, “What did they expect? That I would continue to stand in the Hostages Square, protesting weekly?”

When asked about the families of other captives, Eli said, “I can’t judge them. My daughter is back, so I keep my mouth shut. But there are fifty more kidnapped people in Gaza. I understand what these families are going through.”

Liri Albag returned to active duty in the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) about a month ago as a regular soldier. Eli said, “She wants to experience the army and continue her military service.”

Liri was taken captive the day after she arrived at the Nahal Oz outpost. Eli said, “She comes home every day and continues her service. It has been somewhat difficult for her lately, but we support the families of the kidnapped.”

Liri Elbag was released by Hamas in January 2025, along with three other 'Israeli' soldiers.
