Arab, Muslim nations condemn "Israel’s" plan to occupy Gaza City
The Ministerial Committee mandated by the Joint Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit, representing Jordan, Bahrain, Egypt, Indonesia, Nigeria, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and other Muslim-majority countries, issued a strong condemnation of "Israel’s" declared intention to impose full military control over the Gaza Strip.
The committee described "Israel’s" announcement as a dangerous escalation and a clear violation of international law. It warned that the move would entrench illegal occupation, impose facts on the ground by force, and further undermine regional and international efforts toward peace.
The statement highlighted "Israel’s" ongoing grave violations, including killing, starvation, forced displacement, annexation attempts, and settler violence, which may constitute crimes against humanity. These actions deepen the humanitarian crisis, affect millions of Palestinians, and destroy prospects for a peaceful resolution.
The committee called for:
- Immediate and comprehensive cessation of "Israeli" aggression in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem.
Unconditional humanitarian access to Gaza, including food, medicine, and fuel, ensuring freedom for relief agencies to operate. - Support for ceasefire efforts and prisoner exchanges led by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States.
Implementation of the Arab-Islamic reconstruction plan for Gaza, with active participation in the upcoming Cairo conference. - Rejection of all forced displacement efforts and preservation of the legal status of Jerusalem’s holy sites under Hashemite custodianship.
- A just and lasting peace based on the two-State solution, with Palestine established on pre-1967 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital.
The committee held "Israel" responsible for the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and urged the international community, especially UN Security Council permanent members, to fulfill their legal and moral duties by stopping "Israel’s" aggressive policies and ensuring accountability for violations, including those amounting to genocide.
It also stressed the need to implement outcomes from the recent High-Level International Conference co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, focusing on urgent measures to end the Gaza war and achieve a comprehensive, peaceful settlement of the Palestinian question.
