Jordan endures scorching heat, dusty winds as temperatures soar
Jordan remains under the grip of a persistent heatwave this Saturday, with dry and hot conditions prevailing over the high mountain areas and extreme heat across the rest of the country.
Moderate to high clouds will appear intermittently throughout the day.
Winds are expected to blow from northeast to northwest, occasionally intensifying and stirring up dust, especially over the desert (Badia) regions.
The Meteorological Department issued several warnings:
- Avoid direct exposure to sunlight during peak hours to prevent heat-related health risks.
- Reduced horizontal visibility is expected in desert areas during evening and nighttime due to dust.
- Never leave children unattended inside closed vehicles amid the heat.
- Avoid storing flammable materials in vehicles, lighting fires, or discarding cigarette butts in forested areas to prevent wildfires.
The heatwave and dry conditions are forecast to continue through Sunday and Monday, with a slight chance of light, localized afternoon rain showers in southern and eastern parts of the country. Tuesday is expected to remain hot to very hot, particularly in desert areas, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba.
Temperature ranges for today are as follows:
- East Amman: 28°C (low) – 43°C (high)
- West Amman: 26°C – 41°C
- Northern Highlands: 27°C – 38°C
- Shara Highlands: 28°C – 39°C
- Badia (desert): 30°C – 45°C

- Southern Jordan Valley: 34°C – 43°C
- Dead Sea: 33°C – 44°C
