Gunmen attack courthouse in southeastern Iran: state TV
Gunmen carried out a “terrorist attack” today on a courthouse in Zahedan, the capital of Iran's southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province, Iranian state television said Saturday morning.
Sources indicate the attack led to fierce clashes between security forces and the assailants inside the courthouse. Security agencies are working to control the situation and secure the building.
At least eight people, including five civilians and three assailants, were killed during the attack, state media said in an update.
"Unknown gunmen attacked the judiciary centre in Zahedan," the capital of southeastern Sistan Baluchistan province, the judiciary's Mizan Online said.
"Five people have been killed and 13 injured in this terrorist attack," it added.
Separately, the official IRNA news agency reported that three of the attackers were killed during the assault.
