UN Rapporteur Albanese likens 'Israel’s' Gaza blockade to Nazism

Francesca Albanese, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, issued a stark condemnation on Sunday of 'Israel’s' policies toward Gaza, accusing the state of deliberately starving two million people and killing children. She drew a parallel between these actions and Nazi-era atrocities.

Albanese’s comments came in response to reports that a disabled Palestinian man recently died of hunger in Gaza, highlighting the devastating human cost of the ongoing blockade.

“My generation was taught Nazism was the greatest evil; and it was; and colonial crimes should’ve not been omitted,” Albanese wrote on X. She went on to say, “Today, a state (Israel) starving millions/shooting children for sport, shielded by democracies & dictators alike, is the new abyss of cruelty.”

Ending her statement with a poignant question, she asked, “How will we survive this?”

The death of Mohammed Al-Sawafiri, a disabled Palestinian whose health worsened due to extreme hunger amid the blockade, was cited as a tragic example of the blockade’s toll.

On the same day, Gaza’s Ministry of Health reported on Telegram that 86 Palestinians have died from malnutrition and lack of humanitarian aid since the blockade began in October 2023. Among the deceased were 76 children, underscoring the dire consequences of restricted access to essential resources.
