VIDEO: 28 injured after vehicle plows into crowd in Los Angeles
A vehicle struck a crowd in East Hollywood early Saturday, leaving 28 people injured, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the incident.
Over 100 firefighters responded to the scene, where they treated three people in critical condition, six with serious injuries, and 19 with less severe wounds.
Initial reports had estimated that four to five individuals were in critical condition.
According to ABC News, a Fire Department official suggested that the driver may have lost consciousness before crashing into a large group gathered outside a nightclub. However, this detail has not been officially confirmed.
The incident took place in an area close to several iconic Hollywood sites, including Sunset Boulevard and the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
