‘Israeli’ airstrikes hit Syrian defense ministry in Damascus, injuries reported

Syrian media reported on Wednesday that forces from the Ministry of Defense have begun withdrawing from the city of Suwayda.

The withdrawal comes following the deployment of internal security forces in the city, in implementation of an agreement reached with the Druze leadership.

Syrian Health Minister said on Wednesday that 'Israeli' airstrikes are hindering the entry of a medical convoy into Suwayda province.

According to the minister, 'Israeli' forces are targeting any vehicles heading toward the area, preventing the delivery of medical aid.

Syria’s Health Ministry announced the discovery of dozens of bodies inside Sweida hospital following the withdrawal of armed groups from the area.

According to state media SANA, the victims include members of the Syrian security forces and civilians.

An 'Israeli' airstrike targeted an area near Muadamiyat al-Sham in the Damascus countryside.

The strike occurred recently, causing concern among local residents.

Further details about casualties or damage have not been reported.

United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio said his country is seeking to reduce tensions in the region and expressed readiness to help achieve stability in Syria.

In remarks to the press, Rubio said there is a “misunderstanding” between the Syrian and “Israeli” sides, as he described it, adding that he had spoken with both parties in an effort to bridge differences and contain the escalation.

Rubio stressed that crises in the Middle East cannot be resolved by force but through dialogue and diplomacy. He called on the international community to support efforts aimed at preventing a new war in the region.

Syrian state news agency SANA reported on Tuesday that 'Israeli' warplanes carried out airstrikes targeting the vicinity of the Damascus–Daraa highway.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Wednesday that the United States is deeply concerned about the ongoing ‘Israeli’ airstrikes in Syria.

“We are speaking with all relevant parties and want the fighting to stop,” Rubio stated.

Syria’s Civil Aviation Authority announced the temporary closure of the southern air corridor to ensure air safety, amid rising regional tensions and ongoing airstrikes.

Hamas issued a statement condemning in the strongest terms the ‘Israeli’ attack on Syria’s capital, Damascus, describing the attack as a blatant violation of Syrian sovereignty and an act of organized terrorism.

The group called the strikes "a brutal assault aimed at undermining Syria’s stability and territorial unity," warning that the attacks worsen the already fragile regional situation.

Hamas urged the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the United Nations to condemn the ‘Israeli’ escalation and take concrete steps to stop these assaults, which it said fuel tensions and threaten regional security and the interests of its peoples.
