Trump doesn’t oppose “Israel” striking Iran again if nuclear progress resumes: WSJ report
Benjamin Netanyahu told Trump in their last White House meeting that “Israel” would strike Iran again if it resumes moving towards a nuclear weapon. Trump responded that he favors a diplomatic approach, but didn’t object to the “Israeli” plan.
According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, citing senior US and “Israeli” officials privy to Trump’s and Netanyahu private talks, “Israel” is skeptical of a diplomatic agreement on Iran, while Trump is relying on the threat of further strikes to pressure Tehran into an agreement.
Top “Israeli” officials said they thought the strikes on Iran set back Tehran’s ability to build a nuclear weapon by up to “two additional years”.
They also believe that some of Iran’s highly enriched uranium at Isfahan survived the attacks, and that it could be recovered from the site with “considerable efforts,” the report said.
Iran cannot do the same at the Natanz and Fordow because of the significant damage inflicted by US bunker-buster bombs, a senior “Israeli” official said.
