US approves $100 million Super Tucano maintenance deal for Lebanon
The US Department of Defense announced Friday that the State Department has approved a potential foreign military sale to Lebanon for maintenance equipment and support services related to the A-29 Super Tucano aircraft, in a deal valued at approximately USD 100 million.
In a statement, the Pentagon said the proposed package would enhance Lebanon’s ability to sustain its A-29 fleet, ensuring continued operational readiness and support for missions related to training, surveillance, and counterterrorism.
The A-29 Super Tucano is a lightweight, multi-role attack aircraft commonly used for close air support, reconnaissance, and pilot training. It is known for its effectiveness in irregular warfare and low-intensity conflict environments.
The potential sale still requires approval by the US Congress.
