US President Donald Trump announced Sunday morning that he has signed a Major Disaster Declaration for Kerr County, Texas, following what he described as a devastating tragedy in the region.
In a statement posted on his social media platform, Trump said the move was intended “to ensure that our Brave First Responders immediately have the resources they need.”
He acknowledged the scale of the disaster, noting, “These families are enduring an unimaginable tragedy, with many lives lost, and many still missing.”
Trump emphasized that his administration is coordinating closely with state and local officials. “The Trump Administration continues to work closely with State and Local Leaders,” he wrote.
He also praised the on-the-ground efforts of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Texas Governor Greg Abbott. “Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem was on the ground yesterday with Governor Greg Abbott, who is working hard to help the people of his Great State,” Trump added.
