At least 21 Palestinians were killed and around 150 injured early Tuesday after Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) opened fire on a crowd waiting for humanitarian aid in central Gaza, according to Gaza’s civil defence agency.

The incident took place near an aid distribution point, where large numbers of civilians had gathered in hopes of receiving food and supplies. Mahmud Basal, a spokesperson for the civil defence, told Agence France-Presse (AFP) the casualties resulted from “the Israeli occupation forces’ targeting of gatherings of citizens waiting for aid... in the central Gaza Strip with bullets and tank shells.”

The attack is the latest in a string of deadly strikes on Palestinians attempting to access humanitarian assistance
