Syria announces arrests over Damascus church attack: Interior ministry

Syria’s Interior Ministry announced on Monday the arrest of several members of the terrorist cell responsible for yesterday's attack on Mar Elias Church in the Dweilaa neighborhood of Damascus.

According to the ministry, security forces launched intensive operations following the attack, resulting in armed clashes during which the cell leader and five members were captured. Two others were killed, including the main suspect who facilitated the suicide bomber’s entry into the church.

The second individual killed was reportedly preparing another terrorist attack in a different area of the capital.

During the raid, authorities seized large quantities of weapons, ammunition, explosive vests, mines, and a motorcycle rigged with explosives, which was ready for detonation.

The Interior Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing terrorist elements and ensuring the safety of citizens.
