Discover terms of new US ceasefire proposal for Gaza
A new US-backed proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza includes a 60-day truce, with the first week involving the release of 28 'Israeli' captives - both alive and deceased - in exchange for 125 Palestinian political prisoners sentenced to life terms and the return of 180 bodies of Palestinians killed, according to Reuters.
According to the report, the plan would be guaranteed by US President Donald Trump, with Egypt and Qatar serving as mediators. The proposal also calls for the immediate entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza upon Hamas' signing of the truce agreement.
In the final phase of the deal, Hamas would release the remaining 30 'Israeli' captives, contingent on a permanent ceasefire being implemented.
The White House announced Thursday that Israeli Occupation has accepted the proposal. Hamas, meanwhile, stated that it is reviewing the plan’s terms and will provide a formal response within two days.
