A new documentary titled “Nashmi” has cast a spotlight on the sporting side of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, showcasing his views on the role of sports in building societies and strengthening national identity.

Speaking in the film, Crown Prince Al Hussein emphasized that sports play a vital role in a nation’s development, noting that many countries around the world have harnessed sports as a tool to unite people, promote their image, and amplify their voice on the global stage.

Balancing Challenges with Opportunity

HRH acknowledged that Jordan is currently facing pressing economic and security challenges, but insisted that these priorities should not eclipse the importance of sports, which he described as having economic, touristic, and moral value that supports the Kingdom’s stature and the aspirations of its youth.

Local Clubs Overhaul

In a candid assessment, the Crown Prince addressed the shortcomings of local sports clubs, saying many are not operating at the desired level due to poor management, which has denied talented players the opportunities they deserve.

He called for greater administrative and financial transparency within clubs, stressing the need to develop investment strategies and diversify income sources instead of relying solely on donations.

“The outdated mentality and mismanagement inside clubs must be addressed to ensure real progress in the sports sector,” he said.

Support for the Nashama and World Cup Aspirations

The Crown Prince expressed deep appreciation for the national football team, the Nashama, sharing his joy in training alongside them and his belief in their ability to qualify for the FIFA World Cup.

“The opportunity is closer than ever. We have big dreams for our country and our people—and playing in the World Cup is a personal dream,” he said.
“We have important matches ahead, and God willing, the Nashama are up to the task.”

Investing in Federations and Diverse Sports

HRH also highlighted the crucial role sports federations play in athletic development, underscoring the importance of qualified, specialized leadership on their governing boards. He emphasized that athlete selection should be based solely on performance and merit.

He further noted the need to support a wide range of sports, including Olympic and Paralympic disciplines, pointing to Jordan’s remarkable achievements in martial arts as a model of success.

A Message to the Jordanian Public

Concluding his remarks, Crown Prince Al Hussein addressed the Jordanian public directly:
“I am one of you. We need to be more patient and avoid selective support. Jordanians are capable—and they can reach the global stage with pride.”
