Emir of Qatar calls Trump 'man of peace'
Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, welcomed US President Donald Trump at the Amiri Diwan in Doha on Wednesday, where an official reception was held in the presence of senior Qatari officials.
During the meeting, the Emir expressed hope for lasting peace in the region, stating: “We all want peace in the region, and we hope this time it can be achieved. I know you are a man of peace and want to bring peace to the region—we support that.”
He also emphasized the importance of joint efforts in promoting peace, saying, “We can continue working together to bring peace to our region and elsewhere, such as between Russia and Ukraine.”

President Trump responded warmly: “We liked each other and worked together at the highest levels to bring peace to this region and across the world.” He added, “You are helping us achieve peace in several areas, including Russia and Ukraine, and we’ll see progress there.”
Trump also expressed appreciation for Sheikh Tamim, saying, “I want to thank you for everything—for your friendship, your leadership, and the great work you're doing.”
The Emir noted that both sides were enthusiastic to continue discussions on regional peace, investment, and energy—key pillars of US-Qatar cooperation.
Trump, for his part, stressed the importance of deepening US-Qatar ties and reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to working with all partners to promote peace and stability in the Middle East.
