Megan Thee Stallion shooter Tory Lanez stabbed 14 times
Rapper Tory Lanez is recovering after being stabbed multiple times during a violent attack inside a California prison, where he is currently serving a 10-year sentence for the 2020 shooting of hip-hop star Megan Thee Stallion.
The incident took place early Monday morning at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi. According to prison officials, Lanez—whose legal name is Daystar Peterson—was assaulted in a housing unit at approximately 7:20 AM (PST). He was immediately given medical assistance by staff and transported to an outside hospital. The attack is now under investigation by the prison’s internal unit and the Kern County District Attorney’s Office.
New details emerged on Tuesday through a statement posted to Lanez’s official Instagram account, revealing the severity of his injuries.
“Tory was stabbed 14 times – including 7 wounds to his back, 4 to his torso, 2 to the back of his head, and 1 to the left side of his face. Both of his lungs collapsed, and he was placed on a breathing apparatus. He is now breathing on his own. Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through. He also wants to thank everyone for their continued prayers and support,” the statement said.

Authorities have not confirmed the identity of the attacker or the motive behind the stabbing.
Lanez was convicted in December 2022 of assault with a semi-automatic firearm, carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. Megan Thee Stallion, whose legal name is Megan Pete, testified that Lanez shot at her feet and shouted for her to dance as she walked away from their vehicle following a party in Hollywood.
His attorneys have appealed the conviction, though their request for a new trial was denied. In January, a judge also issued a protective order barring Lanez from any direct or indirect contact with Megan, following claims that he had continued to harass her from prison.
