Hamas insists on “comprehensive” deal to reach Gaza ceasefire
A senior Hamas official reaffirmed Wednesday that the movement is determined to reach a comprehensive ceasefire deal with “Israel”, rejecting any partial agreements.
Bassem Naim, a member of Hamas' political bureau, told AFP, "Hamas and the resistance factions insist on reaching a full agreement and a comprehensive package to end the war and aggression, including a roadmap for the day after—not a partial deal."
He stressed that the most crucial conditions for any agreement include “guaranteeing an end to the war, a full “Israeli” withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, and the immediate entry of humanitarian aid” into the besieged enclave, where residents are suffering from extreme shortages of food and water.
Naim also warned of "desperate attempts" to pressure the group ahead of an expected visit by President Donald Trump to the region.
He accused “Israel” of committing "genocidal acts and starvation tactics" in an effort to secure a limited deal that would involve the release of some captives in exchange for a short-term provision of food and water.
“There are no guarantees from any party to ensure a full cessation of hostilities,” Naim said, citing “Israeli” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s repeated pledges to resume the war in pursuit of what he called “total victory” and the return of captives—goals Naim says “Israel” has so far failed to achieve.
“These attempts will not succeed in breaking the will of our Palestinian people or its resistance,” he added.
