Jordan's Interior Minister to hold press conference on national security developments
Jordanian Interior Minister Mazen Al-Faraya is scheduled to hold a press conference later today, amid anticipation for an official statement clarifying the ongoing national security developments uncovered by the General Intelligence Directorate (GID) last week.
Minister of Government Communications, Mohammad Al-Momani, had earlier confirmed that any plans threatening Jordan’s security are dealt with through institutional and legal frameworks, emphasizing that the Kingdom is a state of established institutions that operates with stability and in accordance with the rule of law.
In response to a question from a Roya correspondent during a press conference on the sidelines of the Cabinet session in Ajloun, Momani indicated that the coming period will see new facts and measures related to this case revealed by the Minister of Interior.
The GID had thwarted plots aimed at undermining national security, spreading chaos, and causing physical sabotage within the Kingdom.
The agency arrested 16 individuals involved in the plots, which it had been closely monitoring through precise intelligence work since 2021.
The plans included: manufacturing rockets using both locally sourced materials and components imported from abroad for illegal purposes, possessing explosives and firearms, hiding a missile ready for use, and a project to manufacture drones. The plots also involved recruiting and training individuals inside Jordan and subjecting them to further training abroad.
