Gossip Girl star Michelle Trachtenberg’s death was diabetes-related
Michelle Trachtenberg, the American actress best known for her roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, died from natural causes related to complications of diabetes, according to the New York City medical examiner’s office.
The 39-year-old was discovered unresponsive in her New York City apartment in February. Although no autopsy was performed, honoring her family's religious beliefs, officials said toxicology results provided a clear determination of her cause of death.

Trachtenberg's family, practicing Orthodox Jews, requested that no post-mortem examination be carried out. The medical examiner respected their wishes, citing the absence of any suspicious circumstances surrounding her passing.
A source familiar with the matter told NBC News that the actress had previously undergone a liver transplant, though the timing and reason for the procedure remain unknown.
