12-04-2025 16:50|South Korean rescue workers pulled a man alive from the rubble of a collapsed subway construction site near Seoul on Saturday, while efforts continued to locate another missing worker.
The survivor was found about 30 meters (98 feet) underground after being trapped for roughly 13 hours. He was conscious when rescued and transported to a nearby hospital, according to Im Gwang-sik of the Gwangmyeong city fire department.
Authorities had evacuated the site and halted traffic earlier due to concerns about a ventilation shaft potentially collapsing. Search operations are ongoing, with dozens of emergency personnel, vehicles, and three cranes deployed to locate the second worker.
