Iranian Foreign Minister: Talks with US only possible with major changes
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi confirmed on Sunday that resuming talks with the United States is no longer possible unless there are substantial changes.
Araqchi explained that the 2015 nuclear deal is no longer feasible in its current form, though it could serve as a model for a future agreement. He emphasized that the refusal to negotiate with Washington is not out of obstinacy but due to past experiences.
Khamenei warns of "Severe retaliation"
In a related development, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Friday underscored that US threats against Tehran "will not be effective," warning that any action targeting Iran would be met with a harsh response.
In a televised speech, Khamenei stated, "The Americans must realize that threats are ineffective when facing Iran," adding, "Any action that harms the Iranian nation will be met with a strong slap."
Trump's message, military action threats
This comes after US President Donald Trump sent a message to Khamenei, warning Tehran of two choices: either reach a new nuclear deal with Washington or face the possibility of military action.
Relations between the US and Iran have been increasingly tense, with escalating political rhetoric surrounding the Iranian nuclear issue and concerns about a potential military confrontation in the region.
