Snowfall, freezing temperatures expected in Jordan’s Highlands
Recent satellite images indicate the continued advancement of rain-bearing clouds over northern and central Jordan, keeping the weather cold, cloudy, and intermittently rainy, with heavy hail showers in some areas.
In the early morning hours, snow showers remain possible over the high mountain peaks in northern, central, and southern Jordan, as well as the northeastern desert highlands. Some accumulation is possible, particularly in the peaks of Jerash and Ajloun.
Low clouds will touch the surface, leading to fog formation over the high mountain areas at times.
Cold polar air mass continues to affect Jordan
Temperatures will be significantly colder than usual for late March, ranging 7 to 9 degrees Celsius below seasonal averages.
The weather will remain extremely cold and overcast, with periods of rain expected in northern and central regions, as well as Karak and parts of eastern Jordan. Rainfall may be accompanied by hail over higher elevations.
In the morning, snow showers may continue over high mountain peaks in the north, center, and south, along with the northeastern desert highlands. Some accumulation is possible, especially in Jerash and Ajloun, as well as in the peaks of Qadisiyah and Rashadiyah in Tafileh, and the summits of Shoubak, southern Taybeh, and the surrounding mountains of Petra and Wadi Musa.
Winds will be westerly, moderate to active in speed.
