Social Development distributes prepaid shopping cards to 60,000 underprivileged families

The Ministry of Social Development completed the distribution of 60,000 prepaid shopping cards to 60,000 families benefiting from the National Aid Fund (NAF) and underprivileged families across various regions of the Kingdom.

This initiative is part of the Royal makruma, implemented annually on the occasion of His Majesty King Abdullah II’s birthday and the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.

In a press statement on Monday, the ministry confirmed that it had completed the distribution of the cards, each with a purchasing value of JD 100, through 108 distribution centers affiliated with the ministry across the Kingdom. The aim is to enable beneficiary families to secure their needs during the holy month.

The ministry explained that the selection of beneficiary families is based on specific criteria and standards that ensure fairness and transparency, relying on a computerized system and the ministry’s database.

In a related context, the ministry has begun implementing the Royal makruma for beneficiaries of its care homes during the month of Ramadan, benefiting 1,873 individuals.

The initiative includes a variety of activities, such as religious, recreational, and social events, in addition to Ramadan iftar meals, the purchase of Eid clothing, holiday sweets, and the distribution of Eid gifts to beneficiaries in care homes and ministry-run residential centers. These include orphans, individuals without family support, persons with disabilities, those seeking protection and care, and juveniles.
