Following the initial US-Russia peace talks held in Riyadh on Feb. 18, senior officials from both countries are set to reconvene for a follow-up meeting in the Saudi capital on Tuesday.

The Feb. 18 meeting marked a significant diplomatic step, with high-level discussions focused on resolving the ongoing Ukraine conflict.

Saudi officials mediated the talks, which saw the participation of key figures, including US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

The upcoming meeting aims to build on the momentum from the previous discussions, with both sides working to address key issues related to the conflict, including ceasefire terms, elections in Ukraine, and broader security concerns.

While the US has proposed a three-phase peace plan that aligns with Russian interests, the European Union has expressed skepticism, particularly regarding any potential exclusion from future negotiations.
