Yair Netanyahu reportedly exiled after hitting father
Naama Lazimi, an "Israeli" opposition lawmaker from the Democratic Party, asserted during a session of the Knesset Finance Committee that Yair Netanyahu, the son of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was "exiled" following an incident in which he allegedly struck his father.
Lazimi's comments came as she raised questions regarding funding for Prime Minister Netanyahu's wife, Sara, and the security arrangements for their son, Yair, who is based in Miami.
"I want to ask about the two-month stay abroad of the prime minister’s wife, Sara Netanyahu. I want to ask who financed this stay, what its cost was, and from which budget it was drawn," she stated.
She also highlighted the significant expenses associated with Yair Netanyahu’s security, which was previously reported to be around 2.5 million shekels (approximately USD 701,000) annually.
"I want to ask whether this sum is still budgeted and whether there is still an intention to fund the prime minister’s son’s stay because he hit the prime minister and had to be abroad as he damaged a symbol of authority," Lazimi added.
When questioned by other lawmakers regarding her assertion, Lazimi maintained that Yair Netanyahu had indeed been "exiled abroad."
In response, a representative for Netanyahu's Likud Party dismissed Lazimi's claims as a "lie" and warned of potential legal repercussions. “Naama Lazimi will lose her immunity and pay, and anyone who echoes this vile lie will receive a lawsuit and pay as well,” the Likud representative stated.
A report by The Times of Israel in March 2024 revealed that the costs of providing security for Yair Netanyahu at a luxury apartment complex in Miami, which includes a chauffeur and bodyguards from Shin Bet’s Unit 730, reached 200,000 shekels (approximately USD 56,000).
