Roads clear, safe for traffic; some congestions reported
Several traffic congestions were reported in the capital Amman, coinciding with the late start of work hours by the government due to the ongoing cold conditions. However, roads stay mainly clear and safe for traffic.
Traffic Updates in Amman
Amir Al-Harasis, Head of Traffic Operations and Control at the Greater Amman Municipality, confirmed that all roads in the capital are open and free of any ice hazards. He said that the municipality's teams are working in coordination with the traffic department to ensure smooth traffic flow.
Al-Harasis explained that all traffic lights have been adjusted to accommodate the morning rush hour coinciding with the start of the official working hours. He added that the municipality is monitoring traffic via surveillance cameras positioned at intersections, bridges, and tunnels.
He also mentioned that field teams in the Abdali and Sports City areas have been instructed to inspect the condition of bridges and decide whether to reopen them. Al-Harasis emphasized that the municipality has not received any complaints related to ice or adverse weather effects thus far.
The municipality urged citizens to exercise caution while driving and to adhere to safety guidelines, stressing the importance of reporting any emergencies by calling 102.

Airport Road
Traffic on the Airport Road heading towards Amman is heavy due to the late start of the official workday.
According to reports, a severe traffic jam is being observed on the Airport Road heading towards the capital. The Traffic Department has confirmed that several vehicle breakdowns on various roads in Amman have contributed to the traffic impact.
Frost and Fog in Ajloun and Southern Highlands
In Ajloun, widespread frost formation and sporadic snowfalls were reported this morning, though no significant accumulations were observed. T
The Ajloun Public Works Directorate confirmed that its teams began salting the roads last night to ensure vehicle movement and maintain public safety. The directorate assured that all main roads are passable with caution.
The directorate also reported that areas at higher elevations, such as Ras Munif, Sama, Abin, and Ajloun, are experiencing dense fog, reducing visibility. These areas are located between 1,000 to 1,200 meters above sea level.
Ma'an and Tafila
In the southern governorates of Ma'an and Tafila, all roads are passable with no signs of freezing.
Fog and frost have started to form on Mount Mabrak in the southern region of the Petra District, west of Ma'an.
Irbid to Amman Road
The Irbid-Amman road is clear and traffic is flowing normally without any issues. No notable problems were reported, and traffic is proceeding as usual.
