Sisi affirms Egypt's commitment to Gaza reconstruction without relocation
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi confirmed on Sunday that Cairo is drafting a comprehensive plan for the reconstruction of Gaza, emphasizing Egypt’s firm rejection of the displacement of its residents and the need to support regional stability.
Sisi's remarks came during a meeting with the President of the World Jewish Congress (WJC), Ronald Lauder, in the presence of Egypt’s Intelligence Chief, Hassan Rashad, according to a statement from the Egyptian presidency.
The statement reiterated that the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only guarantee for achieving lasting peace.
It also highlighted Egypt’s key role in implementing the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, including prisoner and hostage exchanges and the facilitation of humanitarian aid deliveries.
For his part, Lauder praised Egypt’s leadership in advancing peace efforts and expressed support for Sisi’s stance on reconstruction and regional stability.
