10 Palestinian detainees seek inclusion in future exchange stages

The Palestinian Authority's Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs reported that only 10 female detainees remain in Damoun Prison, down from 79, following a prisoner exchange deal on Jan. 19, 2025.

The detainees still held in the prison are requesting to be included in the next stages of the exchange and long to reunite with their families. The commission’s lawyer, who recently visited the prison, confirmed that the women are subjected to ongoing psychological torture, including frequent visits from prison guards who provoke them by saying, "You have been forgotten, and no one cares about you."

The remaining detainees are:

1. Shatila Abu Ayada (16-year sentence) from Kafr Qasem, occupied Palestinian territories
2. Ayah Khatib Aql (4-year sentence) from Araara, occupied Palestinian territories
3. Suham Abu Salem (arrested during the war) from Gaza
4. Suzanne Abu Salem (arrested during the war) from Gaza
5. Asmaa Shatat (arrested during the war) from Gaza
6. Maysar Hadeibat (51 years old) from Yatta, Hebron (detained for two months)
7. Noor Amleh (25 years old) from Qablan, Nablus
8. Tasneem Ouda (22 years old) from Kafr Aqab
9. Haneen Jabir "Um Shuja" from Noor Shams refugee camp, Tulkarm
10. Ruba Dar Nasser (23 years old) from Deir Qadis, Ramallah, a student at Birzeit University

The statement also mentioned that five other female detainees are still under interrogation in other prisons.
